Total 120,000 Nickel MMTs! Lygend HPAL ONC Project Phase 3 Reaches Design Capacity

On September 2, HPAL ONC Project Phase 3 invested in by Lygend in Indonesia reached its design capacity. This marks the production line of Lygend HPAL Project, which has a total annual design capacity of 120,000 nickel MMTs, reaching its design capacity, and the capacity will be doubled.

ONC Project has 3 production lines which produce MHP using the world-leading third-generation HPAL technology with an annual design capacity of 65,000 MMTs of MHP, and is a project of which the contract was signed at The Third Belt and Road International Cooperation Summit Forum.

Officially launched in June 2022, ONC Project has realized efficient utilization of nickel ore by constantly improving HPAL technology and efficient raw ore treatment process to tackle the challenge faced by wet smelting process. After ONC Project reaching its design capacity, the HPAL project of Lygend on OBI Island has a total annual capacity of 120,000 nickel MMTs.

Indonesia is abundant in nickel resources and has the largest nickel reserve in the world. To improve its resource allocation, Lygend has built an industrial park with its Indonesian partner on OBI Island of Indonesia since 2018 to invest in and construct an HPAL and RKEF laterite nickel ore smelting project, which will have an annual design capacity of total 400,000 nickel MMTs when it is in full operation. OBI Industrial Park is a critical part in the upstream of the integrated industry chain arranged by Lygend. Now, HPAL ONC Project has reached its design capacity, and RKEF KPS Project Phase 2 is being carried out in an orderly manner. When officially put into operation, the projects will help Lygend to further build an internationally competitive full industry chain of nickel.
